Peace Week School Engagement Project

“Voices for Peace” School Competitions: A school-based peace education initiative in Christiana and adjoining districts in Manchester Jamaica, promoting dialogue, Conflict Resolution, Mindfullness,  Emotional Intellingence,  Anger Management, Critical Thinking and youth leadership

The Peace Week School Engagement Project ” Finding Peace After Your Storm” works with schools, churches, and community partners to promote a culture of peace among students and educators. Through interactive sessions, workshops, and creative activities, the project encourages non-violent conflict resolution, mutual respect, and responsible citizenship.

Hurricane Recovery & Community Resilience Project

Supporting disaster-affected communities through relief coordination, recovery planning, and psychosocial support

This project supports communities impacted by hurricanes and other natural disasters by coordinating emergency relief, conducting damage assessments, and facilitating recovery efforts. Working with church networks and local partners, Unitas of Jamaica ensures assistance reaches the most vulnerable while promoting community-led recovery and resilience.

Primary School Scholarship Support Project

Providing educational support and scholarship assistance to primary school students from vulnerable communities

The Primary School Scholarship Support Project seeks to improve access to quality primary education for children from economically disadvantaged households across Jamaica. Through financial assistance, school supplies, and coordinated support, the project reduces barriers to learning and promotes consistent school attendance, academic engagement, and overall child well-being.

Unitas of Jamaica works in collaboration with schools, churches, families, and community partners to identify eligible students and ensure transparent, accountable, and equitable distribution of support. The project reflects Unitas of Jamaica’s commitment to educational equity, child protection, and sustainable community development

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be enrolled in a recognized primary school in Jamaica

  • Come from a low-income or vulnerable household

  • Demonstrate financial need affecting school participation

  • Be recommended by a school administrator, church leader, or community representative

  • Have parental or guardian consent

(Priority may be given to students in disaster-affected or underserved communities.)
