Unitas of Jamaica exists to empower individuals and communities through education, agriculture, vocational training, health and wellness, diaconal service, and sustainable income-generating initiatives, working in partnership to promote dignity, opportunity, and lasting social transformation across Jamaica.

About us

Faith in Action Building Unity, Empowering Communities, Transforming Lives Unitas of Jamaica is a faith-inspired, community development organization dedicated to promoting peace, education, and social transformation across Jamaica. Founded in 1980, Unitas was born from the vision of church and community leaders who believed that lasting development begins with unity, compassion, and service. For over four decades, we’ve worked hand-in-hand with churches, schools, civic groups, and development partners to strengthen communities, nurture leadership, and support the most vulnerable — especially children, youth, and the elderly.

Unitas Assistance Updates

UPDATES FYI
1. UNITAS facilitated Anderson’s Publishing Ltd located in New York to deliver one 40ft container of relief and reconstruction supplies for people affected by Hurricane Melissa. Teams of volunteers from PEC and UNITAS helped with the unpacking, sorting and distrubution.
2. UNITAS in partnership with Canada Fund for Local Initiates (CFLI) will launch a project called Voices for Peace under the theme: Finding Peace After Your Storm.
This project will be a pilot carried out in Christiana schools, churches and communities.
3. Mellissa demolished the GreenHouse farm. We have to start all over again.
4. We continue to make available UNITAS status of ‘Good Standing’ to import donations for several recipients. This will save a lot through exemption from GCT and easier passage through customs.
